Regular Season:

Format:
14 teams, each plays the others twice - home and away - for a total of 26 games each, over 26 game weeks.

Scoring points:
3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss.

Table order:
1. points won; 2. total goal difference; 3. total goals scored; 4. points in head-to-head matches; 5. goal difference in hth matches; 6. goals scored in hth matches; 7. away goals in hth matches; 8. play-off (next stage participation); 9. draw.

Qualification for Championship Round:
1-6 place: enter Championship Round

Qualification for Relegation Round:
7-14 place: enter Relegation Round


Championship Round:
------------

Format:
6 teams from the Regular Season, each plays the others twice - home and away - for a total of 10 games each, over 10 game weeks.
Teams keep their entire Regular Season record going into the Championship Round.
The Championship Round winner is the Superliga champion.

Scoring points:
3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss.

Table order:
1. points won; 2. total goal difference; 3. total goals scored; 4. points in head-to-head matches; 5. goal difference in hth matches; 6. goals scored in hth matches; 7. away goals in hth matches; 8. play-off (only for deciding champion, UEFA competitions participation and relegation); 9. draw.

Qualification for UEFA competitions:
1 place: UEFA Champions League Qualifiers
2 place: UEFA Europa League Qualifiers
3 place: enters Europa League Play-off


Relegation Round
------------

Format:
8 teams from the Regular Season are distributed into 2 groups of 4 teams each, based on their Regular Season standings:
Group 1: 7th, 10th, 11th and 14th;
Group 2: 8th, 9th, 12th and 13th.
Teams keep their entire Regular Season record going into the Relegation Round.
Within each group each team plays the others twice - home and away - for a total of 6 games each, over 6 game weeks.

Scoring points:
3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss.

Table order:
1. points won; 2. games won; 3. total goal difference; 4. total goals scored; 5. total away goals scored; 6. away games won; 7. play-off.


Europa League Play-off:
------------

Format:
1 team from the Championship Round and 4 teams from the Relegation Round contest a place in the Europa League in a knockout format.

1st Round:
1st in Rel.Round Group 1 vs 2nd in Rel.Round Group 2 (match 1);
1st in Rel.Round Group 2 vs 2nd in Rel.Round Group 1 (match 2);
Winners are decided over two legs.

2nd Round:
winner match 1 vs winner match 2 (match 3).
Winner is decided over two legs.

Final:
winner match 3 vs 3rd in Championship Round *
Winner is decided over two legs.
* - if the DBU Pokalen winner finishes 1st, 2nd or 3rd in the Championship Round, then the 4th placed team in the Championship Round takes part in the Final.

Tie-breakers for the knockout matches over two legs:
1. aggregate score from the two legs, 2. away goals, 3. extra time, 4. penalties.

Qualification for UEFA competitions:
Final winner: UEFA Europa League Qualifiers


Relegation Play-offs:
------------

Format:
4 teams from the Relegation Round contest against Relegation in a knockout format.

1st Round:
3rd in Rel.Round Group 1 vs 4th in Rel.Round Group 2 (match 1);
3rd in Rel.Round Group 2 vs 4th in Rel.Round Group 1 (match 2);
Winners are decided over two legs.

11th Place Final:
winner match 1 vs winner match 2
Winner is decided over two legs.

13th Place Final:
loser match 1 vs loser match 2
Winner is decided over two legs.

Tie-breakers for the knockout matches over two legs:
1. aggregate score from the two legs, 2. away goals, 3. extra time, 4. penalties.

Relegation from the league:
12-13 place: enter Play-offs 1/2 with two 1st Division teams for 2 places in Superliga
14 place: relegated to 2016/2017 1st Division

Promotion to the league:
1 team from 1st Division
2 more teams from 1st Division possible to promote through Play-offs 1/2
